The AuthorsWe would like to introduce our authors. Martin HeemskerkMartin Heemskerk, born in January 1939, grew up between the tulip fields of the Netherlands. At the age of 21 he joined the army, serving mostly in the jungles of Suriname, at that time a part of the Dutch Kingdom. After his discharge, he studied Sociology and Psychology. His career, however, was in the IT-industry, where he was an analyst-programmer and teacher. In 1982 he migrated to Queensland, Australia. He then spent five years in the Solomon Islands before returning to Australia to work in Sydney until his retirement in 2003. He has since retired to Belmont, a small town south of Newcastle in New South Wales. There he devotes his time to writing and publishing. Martin also writes books for children under the pseudonym of “Martyn Hendriks.” Alan MooreAlan Moore was born in South Africa. During his career as a professional geologist, Alan taught Geology at Adelaide University and the University of Cape Town and undertook research in Norway. He has worked in Australia, Antarctica, Asia, and Africa. Alan moved to Brisbane and began a new career in the field of Funds Management. He has since retired to the Newcastle area. Alan is now actively pursuing his interest in writing as well as continuing to consult with clients regarding funds management. Janette WattsJanette Watts was born in May 1941 in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, Australia. Jan taught Social Science in high schools in Sydney and the Central Coast until her retirement. Since then, Jan has dedicated herself to writing. She has written several books to encourage children to want to read, as well as a number of non-fiction and fiction titles for adults. Amy Sheehan is the talented young artist who has given life to both Tips and Puck. Amy’s delightful illustrations grab the imagination of every young reader |
